LAURINBURG — Deputies with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on Saturday night that resulted in the arrest of two local men on drug charges.
According to the arrest report, Deputy D. Blackmon observed a blue and black Honda Accord occupied by Raheem Bines, who Blackmon knew to have outstanding warrants.
“Lt. Inv. Salzlein overheard the radio traffic and stopped (the) vehicle on St. Johns Church Road,” Capt. Steven Dover said. “Upon approaching the vehicle, Lt. Salzlein saw an open bottle of Jose Cuervo; he then spoke to the driver, KeyonDre Purvis, who admitted that he had a bag of ‘weed’ in the car.”
Purvis was detained and the vehicle was searched.
“Deputies located money, marijuana and a firearm inside the vehicle,” Dover said.
Purvis, 22, of Laurinburg, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana. He was given a $5,000 bond.
Bines, 23, of East Laurinburg, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana. He was also given a $5,000 bond.
