Lumberton racks up pins against Fighting Scots

LUMBERTON — Scotland’s wrestling team competed in a Sandhills Athletic Conference quad meet at Lumberton on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots won 48-27 against Purnell Swett and lost 57-18 to Lumberton.

In the duel against Lumberton, Scotland’s Keldon Clark registered a pin in the 106-pound bout. After Scotland forfeited the 113-pound match, Lumberton’s Justin Kelly pinned Scotland’s Jay Johnson at 120 pounds.

At 126 pounds, Sabri Saleh of Lumberton defeated Scotland’s Seth English in overtime. Nathan Joyner then registered a pin for the Fighting Scots in the 132-pound bout.

In the 138-pound class, Lumberton’s Austin Lowery pinned Scotland’s Ethan Tone. Jonathan Floyd pinned Scotland’s Jason Blackenship at 145 pounds, Kenson Sinclair registered a pin for the Pirates against Mark Aiken in the 152-pound bout, Davieyon King-McAllister picked up another pin for Lumberton against Quron McDonald at 160 pounds and Darionte McLaurin continued the streak with a pin against Scotland’s Jeremiah McRimmon at 170 pounds.

After a forfeit by Scotland at 182 pounds and a double forfeit at 195 pounds, Lumberton’s Alex Hammonds pinned Michael Locklear in the 225-pound bout. Tray Regan pinned Scotland’s Nathaniel Harrington to wrap up the duel.

Results from Scotland’s duel with Purnell Swett were not yet available at press time.

Scotland will compete at the Western Harnett Duals on Saturday.
