Anthony “Bear” Bryant, 50, of Maxton passed away suddenly in an automobile accident on Monday, March 18, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Union Light Baptist Church in Maxton with burial following in the church cemetery. Anthony was born on May 25, 1962 in Scotland County, the loving son of Mary Magdalene Bryant and the late Lacy McMillan. He was a dedicated husband and father that truly loved spending time with his family. He worked in textiles for Ellerey’s Manufacturing. Anthony served as a firefighter with the Queheel Volunteer Fire Department Station 15 in Maxton and he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

He was also preceded in death by his brother Foster Bryant and sister Kay Cummings.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jeanette “Pockey” Smiling Bryant of their home in Maxton, sons Vernell Lacy Bryant and Brandon Cummings, and daughter Brittany Lynnette Cummings all of the home, his mother Mary Magdalene Bryant of Pembroke, brothers James Earl Cummings of Laurinburg and Jack McMillan of Red Springs, sisters Nadine Mitchell of Pembroke and Quanita Cummings and Cindy Ambuioti of Bennettsville, S.C., nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Union Light Baptist Church.

Services entrusted to Richard Boles Funeral Service.
