William Bert Shelley, 79, of McColl, S.C. passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Morrison Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the McColl Church of God. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

He is survived by his ex-wife Barbara Robertson Shelley of McColl, his sons William “Billy” Shelley of McColl, Mark Shelley of Bennettsville, S.C., and Alan Figueroa of Rock Hill, S.C., his daughter Theresa Shelley of McColl, his brothers Marvin Shelley of Laurel Hill, Bill Shelley of Bennettsville, and Jimmy Shelley of McColl, his sisters Clara Shelley, Joyce Shelley, Bernice Grooms, and Vickie McDonald of McColl, his grandchildren Brian Farin of McColl and Justin Shelley and Rayna Shelley of Bennettsville. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wade, Charles, David “Bo," and Aubrey.

Born on Sept. 29, 1933 in Horry County, S.C. he was a son of the late Hamp and Virginia Polston Shelley. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and later served with Mohawk Carpets in Bennettsville for 38 years. He enjoyed restoring old cars, Atlanta Braves baseball, and professional wrestling.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the McColl Church of God.

McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the Shelley family.
