Mr. Clarence Turner, Jr., of Laurinburg, formerly of Wallace, S.C. passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton officiated by the Rev. Jeff Stone.

Mr. Turner was born on June 29, 1937 in Marlboro County, a son of the late Clarence and Laura Walters Turner. He was the loving and devoted husband to the late Lillie Belle Patterson Turner. He was a veteran who proudly served with the United States Air Force. He worked in textiles retiring from Delta Mills after many years of service. Clarence enjoyed fishing, golfing, baseball, and playing Ping Pong. He was an active member of his community and formerly served as President of the Jaycee’s of Cheraw.

In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by brothers Gene Carpenter and Edward Carpenter and sister Eva Love C. Rippy.

Surviving are his son Rodney Turner and wife Cheryl of Easley, S.C., his daughters Katherine Turner of Laurinburg and Lynn Turner Labo and husband Mike of Easley, S.C., brothers James F. Turner of Tatum, S.C. and Martin Carpenter of Georgia, nine grandchildren, and one-great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
