Vivian Faye Blades O’Brien, 65, of Laurinburg passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 in Asheville.

The family is planning a private service to be held at a later date.

Vivian was born on Sept. 15, 1947 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Lester and Sarah Walters Blades. She retired from L.O.F. Pilkington Glass after many years of service. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and mountains with her brother and sisters. Vivian loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years George O’Brien of their home, sons George O’Brien and Frank “Eric” O’Brien of Laurinburg, brother Addison Ray Blades of McColl, S.C., sisters Sarah E. Blades and Barbara B. Fields of Ocean Isle Beach, and three grandchildren.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Mrs. O’Brien to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
