Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Cemetery. Pastor Carl Fosdick will officiate the service.
Dawson was born and raised in Laurinburg, a son of the late Carlisle and Beatrice Mumford Perkins. He was the devoted husband to the late Betty Perkins. He was the owner and operator of Perkins Flag Cars, retiring after many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for trucks and also enjoyed fishing, racing, watching old western movies, and listening to gospel music.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his grandson Kameron Hall and his brothers Ernest, Vestor, Bobby, and Henry Perkins.
He leaves behind his children Rick Perkins and wife Anita of Stanley, Jo Kennedy and husband David of Liberty, Bonnie Hilyard and husband Todd of Olympia, Wash., and Robert Hall and wife Beth of Hope Mills, his brothers Lindsey Perkins of Laurinburg, and Jesse Perkins and wife Ann of High Point, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many close family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
