Mr. Daniel Belton “D.B.” Quick, 91, of Laurinburg passed away to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Sneads Grove United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Gordan Caulhill. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Quick was born on June 24, 1921 in Marlboro County, S.C., son of the late Daniel Belton Quick and Josie Peele Quick. He was a veteran of World War II who proudly served in the United States Army. He served as a faithful lifetime member of Sneads Grove United Methodist Church. He worked as an automobile salesman, retiring from McLaurin-McArthur Chevrolet after many years of service.

He was an outstanding citizen, serving three terms as a Scotland County commissioner and served on the Scotland County school board and the Historical Properties Commission. He was a member of the American Legion Post 50 and the Laurinburg Kiwanis Club.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by daughters Brenda Quick Dow and Rita Quick Patterson and sister Josie “Hannah” Prevatte.

Mr. Quick is survived by his wife of 66 years Ercel Brock Quick of their home in Laurinburg, daughter Denece Quick Drose and husband Perry Drose of Laurinburg, sons-in-law Randy Dow and Garland Patterson both of Laurinburg, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Sneads Grove United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 12800 Old Wire Road, Laurel Hill, NC 28351 or to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
