Esther Mae Powell Trahan, 75, of Laurinburg passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Esther was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Columbus County, daughter of the late James Henry Powell and Bertha Ward Powell. She was the wife to the late John Wilburn Trahan. Esther was a devoted homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother. She served as a longtime member of Salem Emanuel Holiness Church. She enjoyed gardening and going to the beach.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Paul Powell, James Powell, and sister Muriel Gore.

Surviving are her children, son Johnny A. Trahan of Linden and daughters Rhonda Trahan Clemmons and husband Larry of Laurinburg and Wanda T. Whitford and husband Jesse of Linden, brothers the Rev. Luther Powell, Willard Powell, and Richard Powell all of Laurinburg and Marvin Powell of Manning, S.C. seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
