The two men serving as interim Laurinburg fire chief and interim Laurinburg police chief took their oaths of office this week. Kim Monroe, who has been the city’s police captain for four years, will serve as interim police chief while Lt. Randy Gibson, a 20-year member of the Laurinburg Fire Department, was named interim fire chief. They were sworn in on Wednesday following the retirement of John Evans, who held both positions.
