Mr. Albert Wayne Morris, 82, of Maxton passed away on Monday Dec. 17, 2012 in Carolina Rehabilitation Center in Hope Mills.

Funeral services with full military rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by the Rev. Mike Coble. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Wayne was born May 4, 1930 in Wood County, W.V., a son of the late Albert E. and Leverta Mills Morris. After high school he entered the Army Air Corps and retired after 30 years of service in the U.S. Army. He then attended Southeastern Baptist Seminary where he graduated with a Masters in Divinity in Christian education. While serving as a minister, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. Wayne married Edith Irene Shinn of Parkersburg, W.V. on Dec. 23, 1950.

Wayne was an active member of the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church and involved in various civic activities in the Fayetteville and Maxton communities. He was preceded in death by his three brothers Claire Morris, Neal Morris, and Arthur Stevens and a granddaughter, Alexis Morris.

Survivors include his wife Edith Shinn Morris, three sons: Terry Morris (Susan) of Fayetteville, Todd Morris (Renee) of Wilson, and Troy Morris (Ruth) of Winnabow, two daughters: Marcie Williams (Bruce) of Hope Mills and Daralee Wiggins (Randy) of Emerald Isle, 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
