The St. Andrews baseball team's difficult 2009 season continued over the weekend.

The Knights gave up 62 hits and were outscored 64-8 while being swept in a three-game home series with the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. SAPC falls to 5-31 this season with those three losses.

St. Andrews got three hits from Charles Weber (3-for-4) and a pair of hits from J.T. Maguire in a 29-3 loss in Game 3 on Sunday. The Crusaders out-hit SAPC 30-10, however, and 26 of the 29 runs St. Andrews allowed were earned.

The score was actually 5-3 after three innings, but Belmont Abbey poured it on with 24 runs from the fifth inning on.

Samson Williams singled and scored on a double by Josh Axelsen in the first inning to get St. Andrews on the board. The Knights got their other two runs in the third; Williams doubled and scored in the inning, and Michael Ficarro had an RBI double.

St. Andrews lost 23-1 and 12-4 on Saturday. Senior catcher and Scotland County native Kyle Norris homered in both games for the Knights.

St. Andrews hosts Lander today at 3 p.m.
