"We still have some spaces left at $10 each, so if you have something to sell, feel free to bring your items to the corner of Highway 74 and Third Street in East Laurinburg Saturday morning," Lily Pittman of the EL Fundraisers said. The event will take place Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The yard sale was the brainchild of a group of citizens from the town that includes Pittman and Mayor Pro-Tem / Head Commissioner Marshall Stevens, who saw a need to raise funds for the town of over 200.
"All proceeds from the yard sale, and from our upcoming Springfest on April 25, will go back to the community," Pittman said.
The young and the old of East Laurinburg will be the first to benefit from any funds raised from the event, according to Stevens.
"The groups we are mainly concerned with are the older people of our town and the children," Stevens said. "Our group would like to sponsor a Christmas party for the kids, and we plan to help the seniors of East Laurinburg as well."
Vendors for Saturday's event are welcome to bring anything to sell, with the exception of illegal or obscene material.
Sellers are reminded to bring chairs and a table to display their items.
"We invite everyone to come to our yard sale to raise money for the benefit of East Laurinburg," Pittman said. "You're more than welcome to come rent a space, and enjoy the day with us. We will have gospel singers for entertainment, and it would be fantastic if you could join us there."
