A Laurinburg teenager was robbed at gunpoint outside of a Laurel Hill residence, according to a sheriff’s report.

Around 5:45 p.m. Friday, Brandon McNeill, 18, and Joshua Dudley, 18, had driven to 9301 3rd Avenue to speak with an acquaintance, Melquan McLean.

Authorities say that they are not clear why the teens were visiting McLean, who does not live at the 3rd Avenue address. There were two other men in the yard who McNeil knew only as “Free Willy” and “Neal.”

According to investigators, Free Willy pulled out a gun and, pointing it at McNeill, demanded money.

After handing over $150, McNeill and Dudley returned to the vehicle. Authorities say as the teens drove away, Free Willy shot at the car, hitting it five times in the side and rear.

Also inside the vehicle were two 15 year olds — Tyheen McDonald and Sajawanna Bittle of Laurinburg.

No one was injured in the shooting, according to deputies.
