Dewey James “D.J.” Pate, Jr., 68 of Wagram passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at the Wagram Church of God officiated by the Rev. Harry Clark. Burial will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park.

D.J. was born on Feb. 11, 1944 in Charleston, S.C., son of the late Dewey James Pate, Sr., and Bernie Mae Batten Pate. He attended West Point Academy and was a United States Army veteran who served with the military police. He worked as the manager of Norris Storage Buildings in their Raeford location. He was also a former officer with the Laurinburg Police Department.

D.J. faithfully served the Lord and was an active member of the Wagram Church of God. He was a member of The Gideons International and loved singing gospel music. He was a jack of all trades who loved spending time helping others.

In addition to his parents, a sister, Betty Watson, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sister Elaine Pate of Cary, brother-in-law Frank Watson of Laurinburg, a special niece and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
