Lucille Vivian Stubbs Smith, 97, formerly of Laurinburg passed away Thursday at the home of her son in Boone.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. C. F. McDowell, III. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.

She is survived by her son Barry Smith (Deniece) of Boone, her brother Jesse Stubbs (Lela) of Laurinburg, and her grandchildren Ashley Elizabeth Hoge of Boone and Brent Smith (Jaime) of Charlotte.

Born on Dec. 22, 1915 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Norman S. and Clevie Mason Stubbs and widow of the late Theodore H. Smith.

Lucille served many years in the cafeteria at Scotland Memorial Hospital and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a longtime member of the Philatia Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church and played piano for 17 years for the men’s assembly.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
