Mrs. Myrtle Locklear, 89, of McColl, S.C. entered her eternal home on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Robeson County on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Avener Locklear and Bessie Lee Maynor. She retired from Golf Pride and was of the Holiness faith. Mrs. Myrtle will be remembered for her loving and caring ways. She was married to the late Alex Locklear. She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved preparing meals for her family.

She is survived by her sons Billy (Linda) Locklear of Chester, Va., Eugene “Buddy” Locklear of McColl, and Craig Locklear of McColl; daughters, Mildred L. Reppert of McColl, daughters Margaret L. Brigman of Laurinburg and Carolyn L. Taylor of McColl, brothers John Frank (Janice) Locklear of New Brunswick, N.J. and Tracey (Roberta) Locklear of Raeford, sisters Elizabeth Garner of Fayetteville, Bobbie Carr (Dr. Dawson Carr) of West End, May (Hans) Knaevelsrud of Washington state, and Sara Frances Palmer of Marrietta, Ga., eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great- grandchildren, as well as four great nieces and nephews that called her “Granny Mert.”

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at the McColl Church of God with burial following in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurinburg. Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at the McColl Church of God. The Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett will officiate.
