Following a vague telephone request from an individual who wants to air a show on Scotland County’s Community Access Channel, the county Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday to firm up the channel’s bylaws.

According to County Manager Kevin Patterson, the channel once had an advisory board that met quarterly. That advisory board was disbanded in 2009 due to a lack of a quorum.

The county will also provide feedback to the city of Laurinburg with regard to the future of the Drug and Crime Committee. The city is expected to consider discontinuing the committee due to poor participation on January 15.

Patterson is recommending that the commissioners offer their feedback to the city prior to the city council’s meeting.

The Scotland County Board of Commissioners will convene 30 minutes early on Monday to meet as the water district.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. the commissioners will receive the year to date financial summary for the water district.

Total revenues from water and sewer sales for both county water districts for the year to date have been $596,673. Total expenses, including what was spent on salaries, operation and capital have been $291,719.

During their regular meeting the commissioners will host a public hearing on the 2013 application to the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s “Community Transportation Program” application.

That program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs, which include those services offered by the Scotland County Area Transit System’s vans.

The total funding request for the project is set to be $298,199, with the local share being $35,410.

The commissioners meet at 7 p.m. at A.B. Gibson Center in Laurinburg.
