Keith Yelton, 50, of Laurinburg, formerly of Matthews went to be with our Lord and Savior on Jan. 2, 2013.

Born on Aug. 14, 1962 in Morganton, he was the son of Don and Frances Yelton of Indian Trail. He is survived by his parents and daughter Allyson Yelton, also of Indian Trail. He was a 1980 graduate of Sun Valley High School.

Keith’s love of laughter was infectious. Joke telling was his expertise, as he was always the center of entertainment for family and friends. He loved sports whether he was playing or coaching. He helped coach several of his daughter’s softball teams. He and Allyson spent countless hours pitching, hitting, and practicing in their backyard. Some of his other favorite things were fishing, swimming, and his passion for cars.

Keith worked in the telecommunications field for over 31 years where he was well known for his excellent skills. He always took great pride in his accomplishments as he truly enjoyed his work. The friends and co-workers Keith met through his life journey were very special and dear to him.

In addition to his parents and daughter, he is survived by his beloved companion Sharon W. Bray and her daughters Abby and Hannah Bray of Laurinburg, his sister Beverly Byrum and her husband Henry (Butch), nephew Christopher Byrum, niece Jeanette Byrum, his sister Donna Nunn and her husband Jack, nephews Trevor and Spencer Nunn, niece Carley Nunn, and his sister Kim Rogers and her husband Todd.

A time of remembering and celebrating Keith’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews, NC 28104. Friends and family will gather following the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
