Scotland County’s first baby of the year was born to a Laurel Hill Couple.
Deanna and Kevin Dennis are the proud parents of Kevin Matthew Dennis.
The baby was born Jan. 1 at 4:36 am at Scotland Memorial Hospital. He weighed eight pounds, 7.6 ounces.
“We’re happy,” said the 23-year-old mother. “We’re proud to have the first baby of the year but we’re also glad that God has given us a healthy baby.”
Mother and child are expected to go home today.
Kevin Dennis, 29, works for Cypress Creek Golf Course. Deanna Dennis plans to be a stay-at-home mother for as long as possible. The baby is the couple’s first child.
Mother, father, and baby were showered with gifts provided by local merchants, including a child-sized red rocking chair which baby Kevin is expected to enjoy in the not-too-distant future.
“The gifts are all wonderful and something that we will definitely come in handy,” Deanna Dennis said. “We are very grateful.”
