The 21st Annual Laurinburg-Oban Exchange will see 13 Scotland High School students travelling to Oban, Scotland for two weeks in June 2013.
The students will stay with Oban High School students and their families, visiting area schools and historical sites. In October, the Oban High School students will visit Laurinburg for two weeks to visit schools and travel North Carolina.
To assist students with necessary financial support and assure that no selected student is denied the opportunity to participate, scholarships are funded by the Laurinburg Rotary Club and the Jane M. Purcell Memorial scholarship. Additional funds are raised annually by operating concession stands at the Lumber River/Chalk Bank Challenge and the Scotland County Highland Games, working an evening at Pizza Inn, and collecting scrap metal for recycling.
