Matthew 2:2 – “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

Atop so many Christmas trees sits a beautiful star. Why a star? The star had such a powerful significance at the birth of Jesus. The star led the Magi from the East to seek out the one “born King of the Jews.” The star gave direction; it guided them to the One sought. It was a sign to the Magi as they studied the ancient Old Testament writings, a sign that told them of a King that was promised. It pointed to the future, that this baby that was born would be the powerful promised King. It brought encouragement, they rejoiced when they saw it. The star atop your tree can point you to the One true King, the Savior of the world. It can bring encouragement and direction to lead you to find the One who can set you free and bring you a true New Hope for Today. This Christmas accept God’s wonderful gift – the gift of His Son.

Marshall serves as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church
