A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by Dr. Neal Carter. There will be a reception following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
Cheryl was born on Feb. 19, 1961, daughter of Dr. Pat Kagey and Patsy Weaver Kagey. She was a wonderful wife and mother that truly loved spending time with her family and helping others. In addition to her many achievements, Cheryl earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and her Master’s Degree in Counseling. Her professional passion was Mental Health counseling, she was a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. She served as a counselor with the Scotland Family Counseling Center.
Cheryl was a longtime faithful member of the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her dogs, and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Gregory “Greg” Wood of their home in Laurinburg, her children Rebecca Wood of Winston-Salem, Emily Wood of Raleigh, and Caleb Wood of Blacksburg, Va., her parents Patsy Kagey of Salem, Va. and Dr. Pat Kagey and wife Barbara of Roanoke, Va., sisters Carol Dorsey of Salem, Va., Cindy Kagey of Tucoma, Wash., father-in-law William Wood of Ocala, Fla., mothers-in-law Pat Genty of Maumelle Ark. and Gert Gamache of Syracuse, N.Y., sisters and brother-in-law Deborah Eisinger of Temecula, Calif., Nick Genty of Benton, Ark., Coleen Baird of Maumelle, Ark., and Cindy Smith of Conway, Ark.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Cheryl to the Scotland Family Counseling Center, 1603-A Medical Drive, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
