Albert Carl Horne, 96, of Laurel Hill, formerly of Shallotte died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 in the Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Horne was born on April 11, 1916 in Dillon, S.C. to the late David A. and Cora Belle Bullock Horne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Powers Horne, his second wife Lizzie Mae L. Horne, and three sons: J.D. Horne, Richard Ward, and Eugene Ward. He was a farmer and retired from the Department of Transportation after several years.

Surviving is his son Lee Roy Horne of Raleigh, three daughters: Mary Belle Freeman of Laurel Hill, Elizabeth Holcombe of Clayton, and Carlene Ward Goodwin of Whiteville, two daughter-in-laws: Linda Ward of Whiteville and Anna Mae Horne of Holden Beach, brother David “Sonny” Horne of Hope Mills, sister Esther Jackson of Lumberton, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at 12 p.m. in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. Robbie Stephens and the Rev. Lloyd (June) Grant. Interment will follow in the Whiteville Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
