The 19th annual Putting on the Ritz: A Gala of Giving was held last week on the campus of Scotland Memorial Hospital. More than 400 guests hailing from throughout the Carolinas attended the event, the major fundraiser for Scotland Memorial Foundation.
Held Nov. 3. the gala included exquisite foods, live entertainment and dancing. There were also silent and live auctions featuring one of a kind items.
But the true purpose of the evening to to help the Scotland Memorial Foundation, established in 1988, fund numerous community-based health programs and services each year. This year’s event raised more than $120,000.
Some of those programs include annual mammograms for women at the Free Clinic, funding to help cancer patients purchase wigs and other personal items, financial assistance for patient prescriptions, scholarships for high school seniors pursuing a collegiate course of study in health care, and sports physicals for middle and high school students.
