The Laurinburg-Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce is calling all oyster lovers ahead of its annual “Chamber on the Half Shell” oyster roast, set to take place on Nov. 10 from 6-9 p.m. at the St. Andrews Equestrian Center.

For those squeamish about oysters, shrimp and chicken wings will also be available, said Tonia Stephenson, who recently took over as chamber president.

Oyster roast guests will also be invited to play corn hole and to participate in a raffle for a number of items from chamber member businesses.

Among the items to be auctions is a pearl necklace from Bob’s Jewel Shop, pearl earrings from White’s Jewelry and Repair, a gift basket from Belk and custom made corn hole boards with the chamber’s logo constructed by Larry Lanier.

Tickets can be purchased from chamber committee members, at the chamber office or by going to Harley’s Tuxedo and Gifts, ShirtTales, Art by Design, Jerry’s Deli or the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door, and raffle tickets will be sold for $5 per ticket. There will be four individual raffle drawings.

Sponsoring the event this year are Butler/BlueScope Steel Company and Service Thread.

“We are very grateful to our major sponsors,” said Stephenson. “Without these companies and may more supporting sponsors, this event would not be possible.”

Stephenson also thanked Dee Hammond and the chamber’s volunteer team for helping to make the event an annual success.

For those interested in volunteering, Stephenson said that the group would welcome the additional help.
