Zeb Edward Chavis of Laurinburg passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at the age of 75.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Pastor Dwayne Powers and Pastor David Kee. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Zeb was born on Aug. 3, 1937 in Scotland County, a son of the late Jesse and Myrtle Hogan Chavis. He retired from the City of Laurinburg Power Department after many years of dedicated service as a supervisor for the line crew. He served the Lord and was a faithful member of the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, and riding his motorcycle. Zeb loved his family and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Violet McPherson, brother Roy Lee Chavis, and sister Margaret Ruth Chavis Butler.

Zeb leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Martha Ann Roller Chavis of their home, son Phillip Edward Chavis and wife Wanda of Laurinburg, daughter Teresa C. Sutherland of Laurinburg, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
