Leonard J. Brenner, 88, of Pinehurst died on Friday, Oct. 12 at UNC Hospitals.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife Whaley Phillips Hunt Brenner, son Joseph Brenner (Ellen Schoffer) of San Francisco, Calif., daughter Sara B. Delaney (Charles) of New York, N.Y., stepsons Johnny Hunt of New York, N.Y. and Grayson Hunt of Southern Pines, stepdaughters Bess Ledford (Phil) of Lexington, Ky. and Helen Hunt of Laurinburg, daughter-in-law Carol Moss of Berkhamsted, England, grandchildren Lilly Delaney, Jo Moss Winstone, Katie Moss Jones, Frances Monroe, Elizabeth Monroe, Monroe Henson, Alice Ledford, and Ashley Huntand six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son John Moss.

Leonard was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and later served in the communications industry. He loved classical music, oil painting, and spending time at the beach. He will be remembered by most for his ever-present smile and friendly nature.
