The St. Andrews University wrestling program will begin a club for local youth beginning this Monday October 15.

The Knight Kids Wrestling Club is a wrestling club for area kids from grades 1 to 12. All skill levels and experience are welcome. The goal of the club is to teach the fundamentals of wrestling, tumbling and gymnastics. The club will be directed by St. Andrews head wrestling coach, Joe Baranik.

The St. Andrews wrestling team will assist in helping the club members improve their skills and act as workout partners. We will make it a fun experience, increase fitness levels, and enhance self-defense techniques.

Coach Baranik has coached and instructed kids of all age groups in the public school system, at four division-I universities, developed the Half-Nelson Club at the United States Military Academy and instituted the City Wrestling Club at the Norfolk YMCA. He has coached three state finalists and a state champion in Pennsylvania and coached Hollidaysburg High School (PA) to a fifth-place team finish at the state tournament. He also helped coach two All-Americans at the University of Virginia and numerous NCAA qualifiers at the USMA, Old Dominion University and Slippery Rock U. Coach Baranik has 16 years of head coaching experience at the high school level.

The club will take place every Monday at the St. Andrews wrestling gym from 6:00-7:25 p.m. during two seperate semesters: Oct 15 - Dec 17th and Jan 7 - April 1st. The cost is $50.00 per student per semester. Each athlete must buy an AAU card for $12.00 to cover insurance. For more information call Joe Baranik at 910-277-5012.
