A streak of shootings in Laurinburg on Thursday night have left one man dead and another in critical condition, with police searching for multiple suspects.

Michael McLean, 37, of Tucker Street was shot at 704 Aberdeen Road after leaving Brothers In The Hood Market, according to a police report. Two disguised black males waited for McLean outside of the building and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene. McLean was transported to a medical facility where he is in critical condition.

Nearly four hours later, shots were reported a home on Hickory Street when someone outside of the building fired into it multiple times. An eight-year-old girl, who was sleeping at the time, was struck in the left arm by a bullet. She was treated at Scotland Memorial Hospital and released.

At 2:02 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired on Lincoln Street. Jonathan Murphy, 22, of Harrison Street was found lying lifeless in the front yard of 359 Lincoln Street, with no one else in the area. Murphy had been shot multiple times. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the case.

According to police Lt. Marc Godwin, it is not yet known if any of the shootings are related.

Those with information about any of the shootings should call the Laurinburg Police Department at 276-3211 or Scotland County Crime Stoppers at 291-3333.
