St. Andrews University resolved its Internet problem Tuesday after about 36 hours without emails.
University spokesman Melissa Hopkins said St. Andrews was unable to receive incoming emails to the sapc.edu accounts due to a hardware failure.
“They are calling it a catastrophic hardware failure,” Hopkins said. “It affected faculty, staff and students .. anyone with a edu account.”
The email system went down Sunday. University officials had asked those needed to contact the campus to do so through phone, fax or social network. People could also send messages to alternative email addresses.
Hopkins said any e-mail sent during the outage will be recovered.
“Everything is fine and the email problem is resolved,” she said. “The campus is now receiving external emails.”
