Letter: No Sunday vote

To The Editor

I am writing on behalf of the Snead’s Grove Chapter of the United Methodist Women. Our chapter is firmly opposed to polling places opening for Sunday voting. Citizens have ample opportunity to vote early without having the polls open on Sunday. Sunday is the Sabbath Day and should not be used for any election activity. Sunday voting also places a burden on election workers who must forgo the practice of their religion in order to accommodate voters, who could just as easily vote on another day. Remember Christ’s edict “Render unto Caesar those things that are Caesar’s and unto God those things that are God’s” Matthew 22:21. We hope that the Scotland County Board of Elections will take our concerns under serious consideration. Sincerely, Snead’s Grove UMW
