Laurinburg police say they suspect a former boyfriend was responsible for a June 19 shooting that left two people dead.
On Tuesday, police filed warrants for both killings against Terry Edward Lowery, 23, of 1104 Washington Street. Lowery is accused in the deaths of Larry Goodwin and Jennifer Easterling.
Goodwin, 18, and Easterling, 25, died following a shooting at 808 Tarboro Street, Easterling’s home. Goodwin was found dead at the scene. Easterling was transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where she died on June 21.
Both died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head, but no weapon was recovered on the scene, authorities said.
According to Lt. Marc Godwin of the Laurinburg Police Department, Lowery faces two charges of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, one count of burglary, and one count of discharging a firearm in the city limits.
The shooting of Goodwin and Easterling was preceded by the breakup of Lowery’s longtime relationship with Easterling, authorities said.
“Terry Lowery is the former boyfriend of Jennifer Easterling,” said Godwin. “They were in a relationship up until the beginning of June.”
Authorities declined to comment on the kidnapping charges filed against Lowery.
“We really want to interview the person responsible before we release that information that only the individuals who were in the house could know,” Godwin said.
In 2008, Lowery was convicted for felonious breaking and entering and larceny.
Lowery should be considered armed and dangerous by anyone who comes into contact with him. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact the Laurinburg Police Department at 276-3211 or Crimestoppers at 291-3333.
