The Scottish Pilot Club installed new officers this week and recognized those making a contribution to the club and community.
The theme for Tuesday’s annual Installation Banquet was Service - a beacon to Pilot excellence. Lighthouses, seashells and candles set the mood for the event which was held at Deercroft Club House in Wagram.
Gail Bullard presided at her last official meeting prior to handing the gavel over to incoming President Jennie Meggs.
President Bullard also made a special presentation to Diana Johnston, who was honored as the Club’s “Pilot of the Year.”
Althea Simpson was inducted into the Club by Membership Chair Sylvia Nelson.
Meggs presented the Presidents Book and Past President’s Pin to Bullard. The Presidents Book contained pictures, articles and mementos of the year of Gail Bullard’s presidency and was prepared by Sharon Brandon.
Also installed were president-elect; Joyce Jewell - vice president; Jennifer Cole - treasurer; corresponding secretary - Joyce Hall; corresponding secretary - Diana Johnston and club directors: lead director - Diana Johnston; directors, Jane Callahan and Sylvia Witmore, Shirley Jones and Melina Pate. The PIF representative - Brenda Grubbs; division chairs/co-chairs club Operations - Gail Bullard; fund raising - Joyce Hall; membership - Sylvia Nelson; and projects -Joyce McDow. Nancy Adcock installed the officers and Barbara Walsh presented long stem roses to each officer.
Among the special guests attending was the recipient of The Scottish Pilot Club’s Scholarship and Scotland High School Graduate, Ernie Robinson, who will be attending NC State in the Fall.
Also Honorary Life Member, Heather Fields Adcock and husband; Honorary Member Dot Coble, and Sara Logan, member of The Laurinburg Pilot Club, who was instrumental in organizing the Scottish Pilot Club 20 years ago. Several members of Jennie Meggs family also attended.
The banquet was organized, planned and decorated by members of the Club Operations Division.
