Police recover stolen gun

LAURINBURG —Laurinburg police say they have linked shots fired over the weekend to a gun stolen two weeks ago.

Authorities have arrested Larry Bellamy, 18, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, on charges of discharging a firearm in the city limits; possession of a stolen firearm; and a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.

The arrest came after police responded to a report of shots fired Friday in the Harrison Street area.

When police arrived, Bellamy tossed two guns as he ran from lawmen, according to a police report. One of the weapons was reported stolen by a resident of the 500 block of Sugar Road on Aug. 1, according to police.

Bellamy was jailed under a $11,000 secured bond.
