LAURINBURG — A Laurinburg man is facing 12 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation after FBI agents and deputies with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office searched his home on Thursday.
William Bryan Campbell, 57, of 16420 Laurel Hill Church Road, is being held on a $500,000 secured bond at the Scotland County Detention Center.
According to a statement from the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, it assisted FBI agents in serving a federal search warrant resulting from the federal agency’s investigation into child pornography at Campbell’s residence.
Arrest warrants show that Campbell is accused of receiving numerous video materials depicting sexually explicit material of minors. The arrest warrants describe the unknown minors on the video as female, appearing to range in age from 4 to 15. The warrants show the offenses occurred between Jan. 9 of this year to July 21.
The warrants describe various acts depicted on the videos, including: “an unknown prepubscent female appearing to be 6-8 years of age, engaged in sexual activity …”
Another part of a warrant said, “an unknown female appearing to be 10-12 years of age, engaged in sexual activity, in two separate videos … with an adult male.”
Shelley Lynch, FBI spokesperson in Charlotte, said Campbell is facing state charges at this time, but the federal investigation is ongoing so more details cannot be released.
Because of the type and amount of evidence found during the search of Campbell’s home, the FBI could bring federal charges, according to the statement from the sheriff’s office.
