LAURINBURG — Laurinburg police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning on Vance Street.
Police say Rashawn McGinnis, 33, died at Scotland Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in the shooting.
A 34-year-old man — Allan McGill — was also shot in the arm and has been treated and released from the hospital. A third victim, Deidre Easterling, was uninjured.
Police have charged Tamar Harris, 39, with murder, attempted murder, misdemeanor injury to personal property, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm in city limits. Harris’ last known address was 1550 Pea Bridge Road.
Police said Harris was on foot when he shot at the vehicle where the three victims were sitting outside the residence of the deceased victim, according to a police report.
Harris was later located on the north side of town in the Lee’s Mill Road area, according to a police report. He was placed in Scotland County jail with no bond.
Laurinburg Police Chief Darwin Williams are still investigating to determine a motive.
“We’re still investigating, but it doesn’t appear to be gang related,” Williams said. “Another senseless shooting, another senseless murder.”
