Laurinburg salon tries to clip cancer

SAM_0234printLAURINBURG — In observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SmartStyle hair salon at Walmart will be raising money for Breast Cancer Research on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The annual event called Clip for the Cure is a day where people can donate to breast cancer research by getting a haircut.

This year, SmartStyle is donating 10 percent of its proceeds from every haircut to the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The stylists will also honor the day by wearing pink.

Donations can also be collected from those who don’t wish to get a haircut.

In July 2015, the Foundation distributed $400,000 to Mayo Clinic and $400,000 to Masonic Cancer Center of the University of Minnesota, to be used for breast cancer research. Founded in 1994, the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research has raised more than $11 million for breast cancer research.
