LAURINBURG — March has arrived and with it comes the craziness of spring sports in Scotland County. The six spring sports include: baseball, girl’s soccer, track and field, boy’s tennis, softball and boy’s golf.

Baseball, soccer, tennis and softball are already a few games into their seasons while boy’s golf and track and field start next week — golf on March 13 and track on March 16.

The Scots baseball team is currently undefeated at 2-0, softball lost a heartbreaking home opener last week to start the season 0-1, soccer is still working on shaking the rust off and sits at 0-2 in non-conference play. Tennis started the season against a strong non-conference opponent in Union Pines to drop to 0-1 early.

The Scotland High School sport schedule for the upcoming week is as follows:

Monday, March 6

Baseball vs. Marlboro County

Softball vs. South Columbus (double header)

Tuesday, March 7

Soccer at Cape Fear, 5:30 p.m.

Softball at Cape Fear, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 8

Tennis vs. Jack Britt, 4 p.m.

Thursday, March 9

Tennis vs. Purnell Swett, 4 p.m.

Friday, March 10

Baseball vs. Norfolk Christian, 7 p.m.

Soccer vs. Norfolk Christian, 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 11

Baseball vs. Butler, 1 p.m.

With the sports once again at the mercy of the elements, all games and matches are weather permitting.
