LAURINBURG — The Lady Knights senior libero Nora Darrhar was selected as the National Defender of the Week by the NAIA, based on her performance that also earned her AAC Defender of the Week.

Darrhar along with two other players from the NAIA were chosen as National Volleyball Players of the Week. Wendy Romero of Park (Mo.) was selected as the National Attacker of the Week and Sarah Bell of Georgetown (Ky.) is the National Setter of the Week.

The St. Andrews senior is in her final semester of the MBA program and helped the Knights go 3-0 last week with her stellar performances. She tied her former season-high with 27 digs in the five-set win over Montreat College on Sept. 20. Darrhar then set a new career-high with 28 digs against Tennessee Wesleyan University before adding another 22 more digs against Point University on Sept. 24. The senior also managed ten service aces for the week.

Darrhar has recorded double-digit kills in each match this season and now has 1,689 career digs. The Morocco native leads the Knights with 313 digs — fourth in the AAC — and is on pace to break her single-season dig mark of 526, which she set back in 2014.

She averaged 5.92 digs per set for St. Andrews — for the season she is ranked second in the AAC and No. 17 nationally with 5.7 digs per set.
