ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Senior libero Nora Darrhar and freshman setter Corey Altizer of St. Andrews University were named this week’s Appalachian Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.

Darrhar earned the Defender of the Week while Altizer was named the Setter of the Week.

Darrhar and Altizer had stellar performances last week to help the Knights go 3-0 and improve to 6-2 in the AAC as they currently sit third in the conference.

AAC Defender of the Week

Nora Darrhar, originally from Rabat, Morocco, is a senior and serves as the Knights libero. She earned the Denfender of the Week honor after recording 77 digs last week in St. Andrews three games. Darrhar had a season high 28 digs to help the Knights pick up at 3-0 win over Tennessee Wesleyan.

She also averaged 5.92 digs per set for St. Andrews — for the season she is ranked second in the AAC with 5.7 digs per set. The senior also had 10 aces in the Knights three games last week, with six coming against Montreat to help St. Andrews pull off a close 3-2 win.

AAC Setter of the Week

Corey Altizer, originally from Radford, Virgina, is a freshman and serves as the Knights setter. She earned the Setter of the Week honor after registering 147 assists. Twice last week she hit a career high 54 assists — in the close game against Montreat and in the Knights 3-2 win over Point.

Altizer averaged 11.31 assists per set last week and for the season she is fifth in the AAC with 8.2 assists per set. The freshman also padded her stats with five kills, 29 digs and six aces.

The Lady Knights were back in action at home on Tuesday as they Columbia.
