LAURINBURG — Tyleak Campbell is a 5-foot 8-inch senior at Scotland High School. He is also one of the starting defensive backs, wearing No. 8, for the Fighting Scots this season and has been named this week’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Each Friday, the Exchange will feature one offensive, one defensive and one special teams player from the Fighting Scots, chosen by the coaches, to be the Players of the Week.

Tyleak had one of the two interceptions the Scots defense forced during last Friday night’s game against New Hanover, which is why Scotland coach Richard Bailey selected him as the co-defensive Player of the Week.

“Tyleak is a valuable asset to our team. He fill a bunch of holes and always performs at a high level when called upon” said Bailey.

The 160-pound senior plans to attend East Carolina University to study Pre-Med. He hopes to play sports in college and wants to pursue a career in dentistry.

Something people might not know about Tyleak is that he doesn’t care how big you are, he’s always ready.

When asked what he is most looking forward to in the 2016 season Tyleak said a 4A State Championship ring.
