HIGH POINT — Scotland High School alum and Barton College pitcher Dylan Ward has been named the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week for the 11th week of the season, the league announced this week.

The sophomore, who first won the award following Week 4, was honored for the second time this season after tossing seven shutout innings in an 11-0 win over No. 16 Belmont Abbey College on Friday night at Abbey Yard.

He allowed just four hits in his six innings of work and struck out eight batters. The performance earned the right-hander his seventh win of the season, the top mark in Conference Carolinas.

Ward is now 7-2 on the season with a 2.49 ERA with 59 strikeouts over 65 innings pitched. He ranks second in Conference Carolinas in ERA, while standing fifth in total innings and a tie for fourth in total strikeouts.
