Baranik to host 9th annual SAU Golf Classic

LAURINBURG — St. Andrews University wrestling coach Joe Baranik is set to host the ninth annual “Knights Wrestling Golf Classic” which will tee off April 29 at Deercroft Golf Club in Wagram.

Shotgun start is 12:30 p.m., and the cost is $65 per player for teams of four. Proceeds will go towards the St. Andrews wrestling program.

The price includes lunch, gift, practice balls, green fees and a catered dinner.

Cason starting up local youth running club

Former St. Andrews University track and field and cross country coach Bill Cason is set to host an interest meeting next month for a youth track and field club.

Named the PR Sports Running Club, the team is open to elementary, middle and high school students. Boys and girls as young as five years old can join Cason’s new venture, and events will begin as soon as the squad is constructed.

The interest meeting for parents and students seeking information will take place on April 5 at 7 p.m. at Pate Stadium in Laurinburg.

PR Sports Running Club events will take place across the region in places like Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, Greensboro and other cities.
