LAURINBURG — The Scotland boys tennis team opened its 2016 campaign with an impressive showing Thursday on the road at Purnell Swett.
The Scots downed the Rams 7-2 in their season opener, winning four of the singles courts and sweeping the doubles matches.
On court No. 1, Shane Dubbs topped Cam Richardson 6-2, 6-1. Purnell Swett rebounded to take court No. 2 as Dial Bailey swept Thomas Hopkins 6-0, 6-0.
The Rams also claimed a victory in No. 3 singles as Jydor Locklear edged John Zhang in three sets, 6-6 (7-1), 1-6, 10-6.
