Scots softball blasts Southern Lee

SANFORD — The Scotland softball team captured its second straight win Monday night as the visiting Scots blitzed Southern Lee 20-0.

Scotland (2-1) scored two runs in the first inning, then added five in the second and four in the third. After a scoreless fourth inning, the contest was called in the fifth as the Scots tacked on nine more in the frame to cap the dominating victory.

Ashlyn Dial spearheaded the offensive onslaught, tallying four hits and six RBIs. Kwadeja Quick and Kelsey Smith added three hits apiece, and Sarah McCall notched three RBIs. McCall also pitched 4 2/3 innings of no-hit ball with six strikeouts.

Scotland will travel to Robbins Thursday for a pair of games against North Moore. The Scots will look to finish what they started in the first game of the doubleheader, as rain forced the two schools to delay their in-progress contest last Thursday. The Scots led 2-0 in the second inning when action was halted.
