LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews University men’s basketball team won their second game of the season Tuesday night, defeating Point 86-75.
The Knights had four players reach double-digit scoring, and were led by Titus Gary’s 25 points. Gary also had four steals, two rebounds and two assists.
Jeff Gulley posted a double-double in the win with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Sharpe tacked on 13 points and four rebounds, and Alex Tharp added 12 points and three rebounds.
Jonathan Manning paced the Skyhawks with 17 points.
St. Andrews improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, and Point dropped to 0-11 and 0-3 against conference foes.
The Knights will host William Peace Monday in their next contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Women drop to 0-3 in AAC play
LAURINBURG — The undefeated Point University women’s basketball team continued its perfect season Tuesday, cruising by St. Andrews 77-66 at Harris Court.
The Skyhawks had two players crack 20 or more points — Dereese Owens scored 21 and Alexia Manning had 20. Owens also grabbed six rebounds and recorded three steals.
Alexis Redd was the Knights’ leading scorer, scoring 20 points and nabbing three boards. Alana Artis tallied 12 points and eight rebounds, and Alexus Davis had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Point improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the AAC with the victory while St. Andrews fell to 2-6 and 0-3 in conference play.
St. Andrews will return to action next Monday to play Francis Marion at 7 p.m.
