LAURINBURG — Cypress Creek Golf Links had a record-setting weekend as two golfers hit hole-in-one shots on Saturday.

The first hole-in-one came from Jerry Crews, formerly of Laurinburg, who was golfing with his son. Crews hit the shot with a pitching wedge on the 11th hole, which is a par-3 measuring 136 yards. It was his first career hole-in-one.

Don Coble, of McColl, S.C., made his second career hole-in-one shot on Saturday as well. Coble hit the shot with a pitching wedge on the 16th hole, which is also a par-3 that measures 141 yards. Coble was playing in a threesome with Steve Griffith and Buddy Byrd, both of Laurinburg.

Keith Almond at Cypress Creek said in his 29 years working on a golf course this is the first time there have been two hole-in-one shots made on the same day.
