Power restored after brief outage

LAURINBURG — Power crews have restored electricity to Laurinburg homes following storms that brought heavy downpours to Scotland County.Robert Smith, director of the city of Laurinburg’s electric services, was out working with crews on King Street late Monday morning. He estimated that 800 customers were affected.Power at the Laurinburg Exchange was restored at about 11:45 a.m. following a 10-minute outage.A spokesperson for Duke Energy, which supplies power to many county residents, said no outages had been reported during the storm.
