Noon Lenten services
First United Methodist Church in Laurinburg will be having Noon Lenten services each Wednesday in the Nettie Hammond Building. There will be a short devotion with hymns and prayers followed by a light lunch (if wanted) for a charge of $5. Lunch may inlcude soup and sandwich, salad or baked potato. Gum Swamp bridge to be replaced
A bridge project near laurinburg will begin this Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. The project is expected to cost about $1.7 million to place a new bridge over Gum Swamp Creek, northwest of Laurinburg.
